Record your Robotics learning journey here: Week 1- In week 1 we were put in our groups and now group nine from 6B is Harrison, Brendan, Dean and Max and the people from 6M are Tayla, Thalia and Georgia K. On that same day we started planning on what we would do to our robot. We had many ideas. We all agreed on doing a Drag racer. (Group 9) Week 2- In week 2 we got pictures on what we thought it was going to look like. We started building it a bit. Week 3- This week we started to build our robot and write our plan. Week 4- This week we continued building Week 5- This week we finished our robot and started programming Week 6- This week we finished (Brendan Devlin) Term 2
In term two our group started programming some of our dance on the computer. Also this term brendan and max chose the song we were going to use for our dance which is straight lines. This term we didn't really have any problems with our robot or the programming. Mrs cooper showed us the record and play programme which could let us do any move we wanted to do with the robot by moving it the way we wanted it to move. Our group had a try at it but it didn't work as good as we wanted it to so we just left it and decided it was easier to programme on the computer. Also brendan made our costume which isn't much but still looks good, we put the number 27 on our robot as a costume. the number 27 we chose because we added up all our lucky numbers. This term robotics is fun and we are in week 8. (Harrison Almond)
Problems we had
Some problems we had were that we couldn't figue out we design we wanted to use. Another problem we had was that we coudn't get the wheel's and the moter to fit on the robot. We tried lots of different ways but it wouldn't fit on. Eventually we got it on. But when we tried it out we found out that the moter was on backwards. So when we wanted it to go forward, it went back. And when we wanted it to go back, it went forward. So when we started to programme it, we just did it in the oppisite direction that we wanted to go in. (Dean Hall)
Over the last two terms, i think everyone in our group has enjoyed designing, building and programming our robot. We have tried different moves and have manged to balance the car on three wheels, were as the other groups had about four wheels on theirs. i think i enjoyed this term the most because we got to start programming and got to build our own design and not the intructions. (Dean Hall)
Our robot when we first built Derek we had no idea what we were building. it started with a car, then a helicopter, then a motor bike. But then Harrison thought a drag racer, everyone agreed. We looked at a photo and thought we could not do that, but Dean came with an idea we could change it. So we all agreed and their was our first problem solved. Brendan thought we could put on as many sensers as we can. the touch, sound and ultra sonic senser. i came with the idea that we can put an arm on Derek. After all this hard work we came with a amasing robot that none of us thought Derek would be as it is now, GREAT SUCCESS. (Max Scott)
